To put together an outfit for the 4th, you should start thinking of the defining elements of the American flag. Think stars and stripes, and red, white and blue. Even though you can wear anything from jeans to t-shirts, we’re gonna show you how to put together an outfit using basic cute clothing pieces!

What you need to make your cute outfit:

• A dress (sundress, tennis dress, or gown. Anything works!)

• Sunglasses (cute shape preferably!)

• Sneakers or tennis shoes

BUILDING YOUR OUTFIT

It’s so fun to make holiday crafts and outfits so today for the 4th of July. BeTween is guiding you through how to transform an old dress or shirt into an adorable themed dress that’s themed ‘4th of July!’

To start gather the needed materials:

• Red, white, and blue puff fabric paint
• An old dress or shirt that is solid white (or whatever color you want but white might be the best option)
• A large paint brush (optional) 
• Standard hand-held hair dryer
• Next just follow these steps and have some creative fun!:

1. Wash and dry the dress or shirt without using fabric softener, this helps the paint stay better. Lay the dress down flat and put a piece of cardboard or poster board between the layers. This prevents the paint from bleeding through to the back of the dress
2. Now paint the design with red, white, and blue Puff Paint. Remove the cap and hold the paint bottle like a pen. Squeeze the paint out, keeping the tip slightly above the fabric surface for even lines. Tip: Practice on a scrap piece of fabric first to get a feel for the pressure. 
3. Let your DIY dress dry completely flat for at least 4 to 6 hours before moving to the next step.
4. Once the paint is dry to the touch, activate the super fun puff effect by following the next instructions! Turn a standard hand-held hair dryer to its highest heat setting. Keep the dryer moving constantly about 1 to 2 inches away from the painted design. Watch the paint magically rise! 😀
5. Let the puffed paint sit for 24 hours before wearing. When it’s time to wash, turn the dress inside out and wash on a gentle cycle. Always hang to dry to keep your creative designs looking crisp and vibrant!

SOME GREAT 4TH OF JULY DESIGNS FOR YOUR DRESS ARE:

• Fireworks: Draw exploding lines and marks shooting across the torso or skirt using alternating red and blue lines.
• American Flag: Paint red, white, and blue stripes and stars down/across the dress/shirt OR just paint the flag in the middle of the torso of the dress! 
• Classic Stars: Trace of freely draw various sizes of red and blue stars all over the fabric.
